This morning Rockstar released its first in-depth video footage of Grand Theft Auto V‘s new multiplayer experience, titled separately as Grand Theft Auto Online.
Sixteen players will take to the open world of Los Santos, but Rockstar promises that the multiplayer mode will continue to expand and evolve after its launch with new content from both the company and the community.
There are two very significant tidbits about GTA Online coming with today’s video.
The first is what’s been on everyone’s mind: co-op. According to Rockstar, “players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or compete in traditional game modes with the entire community, all with the personality and refined mechanics of Grand Theft Auto V.”
The second is its release date. While GTAV drops on Sept. 17, we won’t get a chance to play Online until Oct. 1.
Stay tuned to Fate of the Game for more GTAV info leading up to launch.
